Simple Ways To Break Porn Addictions

I know you will likely have come across several writeups and videos about this issue, and I won't want to bother you with too many words here again. Thus, I will try to make this counsel as brief as possible, trusting God that as you go through the simplicity of the texts, His hands will come upon you and give you victory. 

The first thing to do is to MAKE A RESOLVE TO STOP. Of course, this will be birthed by coming to terms with the fact that porn is a cancer and it's dangerous to you. You must, first of all, tell yourself "Enough is really enough".

Then, your resolve leads you to REPENTANCE. Repentance is the state of acknowledging before God that you have been towing the wrong paths, and you are now willing to start moving in the right direction characterized by holiness and purity, and devoid of anything dirty. Tell the LORD, "I'm sorry for allowing porn to get me dirty repeatedly."

After repenting of your sins, the next thing is to purposefully ASK GOD FOR HELP. You know, I've seen people who keep resolving to quit a sexual habit for so many years, and they just keep falling back into the same thing. The reason is that your flesh is very weak - and you thus need God's help. You can't win porn via your own strength, you need God's help. 

Getting God's help means YOU MUST HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS. You see, there's a way things work in the realm of God. The system has been designed in a way that the only medium by which humans can have access to the realm of God is through Jesus Christ. God is holy, but we are dirty, and our sins disqualify us from approaching Him. However, through faith in Jesus, you put on the righteousness of Christ and become acceptable to God. 

Hence, if you are yet to make Jesus your Lord and Savior, pray to Him now and confess Him.

When this is done, He then EMPOWERS YOU WITH THE HOLY GHOST. The Holy Ghost will strengthen you from the inside, and you will have the fortitude to overcome the urges to sin. 

Also, the Holy Ghost grants you unique and personalized wisdom based on your peculiarities. The truth is, different people addicted to pornography have different peculiarities, and we can't always give general remedies. But the Lord knows you better, and He gives you unique remedies based on your peculiarities. 

Now, you also have your roles to play. The first is that you should BE DISCIPLINED IN AVOIDING TRIGGERS. Know the things that trigger the urge to do porn and be disciplined in avoiding them (always ask the LORD for grace and strength).

Then, keep AVOIDING PEOPLE, PLACES AND THINGS that compel you into bad habits. 

Build a life around PRAYING IN THE HOLY GHOST often, as well as STUDYING THE BIBLE every time. 

Finally, GET AN ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER that will be of great help to you. This is one of the things we do as a ministry.
